I also recently bought FabFilter Pro-R on sale for 80. If I was doing mixing/sound design for tv/movies I think Room would be the best of all 3.
All that plus the fact that the Valhalla costs only a fraction of the TSAR-1 price (even at 50% off!), I think Valhalla Room is a no brainer. It seems like the most realistic but less musical one, if that makes sense. The Valhalla had many more presets, probably because of the additional room options, and they too were easy to mod. though, every preset had a wet/dry ratio turned considerably dry which I found annoying.
The TSAR-1 had less, but I think the idea was to cover the general types, then the user can quickly mod those to their liking with the simple controls. Both had usable presets that get you in the ballpark quickly. transient response is the reason I picked up the convolution verb in the first place, and while the Valhalla still doesn't handle them quite as smoothly as TL Space, it is still certainly usable, where as I would probably avoid TSAR-1 for those types of applications due to the familiar algo-verb slapback issue.
It features eleven original reverberation algorithms (including the latest Dark reverb modes, Nostromo, Narcissus, Sulaco and LV-426), and has been designed from the ground up to produce a wide range of natural reverberation sounds. The Valhalla typically handled transients better than the TSAR-1. ValhallaRoom is a versatile, true stereo algorithmic reverb. I was able to more or less match the TSAR-1 sounds with the Valhalla, and in more than one instance the TSAR-1 was distorting when the Valhalla stayed crystal clear.

It’s grade A class number one in its division. I really like the layout of the TSAR-1, but in the end I still found Valhalla faster to dial in. Best for AN ALGORITHMIC VISION OF PERFECTION AND PRECISION. The Valhalla has a bit more versatility offering more room sounds which is nice, but not a deal breaker for the TSAR-1 by any means. I wanted to love the TSAR-1, but I kept going back to the Valhalla. : LAnse au Meadow, Route 436 gunners cove Newfoundland Main Street. I'll just skip to the point: Valhalla Room wins! I've also been hearing good things about the Valhalla Room so I figured I might as well demo them both while I'm at it. with the current 50% off sale I thought I'd demo and pull the trigger if I liked it. Anyway, I've been wanting to add some new reverb for a while and have been eyeballing the TSAR-1. I've used them all this time not because they were amazing, but because they were reasonably priced at the time, they did what I needed, and I got used to them. Redesigned GUI! Better use of space, and 2 user-selectableĬolor schemes (Electric Blue and Old School).I've had two go to reverbs for a LONG time: TL Space and CSR. Instead of creating a simplified physical model of a simplified physical space, VRoom generates early and late acoustic energy that provides the spatial and phase cues needed to create an “idealized” room impression. ValhallaRoom has been designed from a psychoacoustic perspective. The algorithm designs have been influenced by some of the classic room simulation boxes, as well as state of the art modern theory. Sounds range from tight ambiences and rooms, through traditional hall and plate sounds, all the way up to vast modulated spaces. Bill & Au5 Shlappy (Post Stem Session) Lessons Notes Unfortunately, I can’t freeze the master, so the plug-ins there (Ozone 5, Pro-Q 2 & Pro-L) will be unavailable if you don’t own them. But as a user of Valhalla Room I think it is reliable, has great controls and sounds fantastic. There is a bit of a circle jerk around them, for sure.

Valhalla reverbs have a high reputation for both being affordable and also being used in professional productions. ValhallaRoom is a versatile, true stereo algorithmic reverb.
